The quantity of places to visit in Europe is pretty overwhelming. I made a trip to AAA today to look through their map selection, and found that they only had a general map of Europe, but nothing more specific. I spoke to one of their travel agents, who gave me a book of tours offered by Contiki, a company that caters to 18-35 year olds. While I found their trips to be expensive, it’s a good starting point for destinations. If they’re taking tour groups there, it’s probably worth visiting, even if it’s a tourist trap.
Even starting a plan is difficult though. I think the best I can do is make a prioritized list of things to see for each country and go from there. Those lists will be posted here over the course of the summer.
The strength of the Euro and Pound don’t help with the cost of the trip. Even a weekend in Paris costs several hundred dollars. But I’m hoping to explore Western Europe and the British Isles while I’m in school, leaving my breaks open for trips farther afield.
